A Conversation on South Asian Mental Health

Working with South Asian clients is different from working with other ethnic groups. They have had less autonomy while growing up due to the nature of parents or a higher authority wanting them to succeed by having a good education and a good career. This 60-minute course will be an interactive course where I will teach a little bit about culture, background, and how to understand these types of clients.

Course Objectives:

  • Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity

  • Understanding the Role of Family

  • The Stigma around Mental Health

  • Communication Style/Client-Centered Approach

  • Cultural Concepts
